January's Book: 'Journey of the Heart' by John Welwood which will be discussed on 29th January

A new approach to intimate relationships that requires a willingness to let go of old patterns and draw on a new kind of honesty and awareness to embark on a path of personal & spiritual discovery.

From the Author Journey of the Heart explores a new vision of conscious love, of intimate relationship as a path of personal and spiritual transformation. It includes chapters on bringing greater consciousness, compassion, and awareness to such areas as passion, commitment, surrender, sex, marriage, gender issues, as well as to working with fear, anger, vulnerability and uncertainty. Writing this book took me ten years.

This book grew out of my search for a whole new vision of intimate relationship. What I wanted to write was a book that recognized the real-life psychological complexities of relationship, but which also looked much deeper, at the larger spiritual challenges of intimate relationship. I knew that the vision of relationship I was seeking had to be rooted in the powerful spiritual energy that is released when two people connect deeply with each other.

November's Book: 'Life is a Gift' by Gill Edwards which will be discussed on 20th November

Life is a Gift is a practical guide to creating your own heaven on earth. It isn't a superficial cookbook for 'getting more toys' - although you can have anything you want. It is about learning to flow with the Universe, to become a divine co-creator, a practical mystic, a passionate dream-weaver. Taking you to the point where your spirituality, creativity and sensuality meet, it describes the journey of the embodied soul - the creator, lover and visionary. Gill Edwards shows you how to become a spiritual adult, someone who is able to step into their birthright as a human being. On the way, you learn to forge a deeper connection with your higher self, and create a life that truly belongs to you. Above all, this is a book about unconditional love, inspiring you to recognise - whatever your circumstances - that life is not a lesson, not a task, not a mission, but a true and incredibly beautiful gift.

October's Book: 'Mutants Message Down Under -  A Woman’s Journey into Dreamtime Australia' by Marlo Morgan which will be discussed on 30th October

Mutant Message Down Under is a revelation of the profound wisdom still held by some of the earth's indigenous peoples. It tells the story of a western woman who is summoned by a remote tribe of nomadic Aboriginals to accompany them on a walkabout through the Australian outback. Marlo Morgan makes a four month long journey with the `Real People', as the tribe calls itself. During this time she learns how they live and thrive in natural harmony with the plants and animals that exist in the rugged geography of the desert region. She faces daily tests of her endurance, and these challenges ultimately contribute to a profound spiritual transformation. Her story contains a timely and powerful message for all humankind: that it is not too late to save our world from destruction, if we learn to to live in harmony with the earth, and to trust and have faith in our inner knowledge and guidance.

September's Book: ‘A Thousand Names for Joy’ by Byron Katie and Stephen Mitchell

This is Byron Katie's inspiring and pragmatic approach to achieving an awakened mind and living more simply and profoundly. Using the template of the Tao Te Ching she talks about her own experience of living in harmony with the way things are, and how suffering can be relieved by questioning the thoughts that create it.

Katie's comments on life, and how to live it, are profound, vibrant and crystal clear, and all rooted in everyday life.

Please book a place rather than just turn up on the night so we know who to expect.
